Our History

St.Benedict's Catholic Church open in 1966 and stood central in the community for decads. Unfortunately when we came along to buy the site, the church had been left empty and unused for many years. 

Hilda Laing was born in Ramsgate. Her father - Sir John Laing was a devout Christian and founder of the Laing international construction company. The company was involved in many pioneering projects, including the construction of the Second Severn Crossing. Successive generations of the Laing family have built on Sir John’s example of Christian philanthropy. It was the Laing family trust who approached Fegans in 2010 with the idea of leaving a legacy for Hilda in her home town. 

After lot's of planning and vision, the bulldozers rolled onto site in March 2015. The site was re-named 'The Corner' and was officially opened in 2017.
